That was wonderful. I really don't like writing reviews, but I feel the need to mark this territory. Good stuff.

Thanks master kupa!

Nothing terribly impressive or entertaining here. I really don't intend to sound mean or disrespectful here in saying that. Demo reels are supposed to be fun and full of the best work one has to show. This came off more as, "Here's some things I made. Oh, and here's some loud music on top of it." The work wasn't terrible, but I wasn't blown away by any of it. If I watched a full cartoon animated with these talents, I'm sure I'd really enjoy it. But seeing the raw animation in this format was more boring than anything.

ToonCastleTV responds:

I agree dude, like I said this was a college assignment and I had to kinda throw in a sample of everything for a deadline. My demo reel this year should actually be entertaining.

LazyMuffin's art and animation atyle are a highlight of my Newgrounds visits. It's truly synonymous with the site for me, alongside Bitey and Madness. His humor keeps up, too. It's always funny and never too much or too overdone. He's just great.

I love him.

LazyMuffin responds:

That's very nice. Thanks you!

This comes off too much like a facsimile of Max Gilardi's Pony stuff, only with a lot less creativity. The animation was alright, and the idea was silly, but it wasn't any more than okay. The animal crushing was unnecessary and sort of detracted from part of the charm the cartoon initially had, as through being the same content, recreated in an abrasive way. The violence kind of ruined the joke.

Anyway, like I said, it's okay.

It's still funny

I can't believe it's been this long, but here we are. The Steven Seagal cartoons were among my favorites when they had come out, and they probably still hold up pretty well today, but seeing this one remade (with a few new jokes) was awesome.

The before-and-after comparisons were an interesting reminder how much flash has evolved, and the deleted scenes were hilariously dry. The storyboards were nice and silly too.

I hope this means more stuff to come. I've had you on my favorites list for years, but it's been forever since I've seen anything new. And those Comedy Central ones were a bitch to find.

Thanks for hanging in there all these years. I've been meaning to do new cartoons for a long time, but I've been way too busy. I finally got a good chunk of free time, so I'm committing myself to make new stuff for Newgrounds.

Well realized and very entertaining

It's good to see cartoons on here that are more than just one-note gags. While the writing was pretty funny, it was the execution that really did it. The art was nice and clean, the animation was smooth, the voice work was great, and the sound work was fantastic. If this overall level of quality is met in future installments, it's going to be a great series that I'll gladly revisit going forward.

Some great character development

Some high tension going on here.

Pretty fantastic

The caricatures were pretty awesome, and the parodied style of banter was pretty spot-on. It's good to see some more JohnnyUtah stuff.

Raising the bar

It seems every Max Gilardi cartoon sets the gold standard for flash cartoons. Most flash animations are separated in two categories: half like to stress a visual style, linking together cool looking shots and maybe some bits of dialogue to string it together. The other half try to tell a story and use animation as the medium for it. There's only a handful of folks that execute the story side of animation, while still dedicating a healthy attention to the artistry of the design and animation. Gilardi does this incredibly well, establishing his own unique and ever-evolving visual style to tell fleshed-out and interesting stories, with a deep understanding of developing plot and, in this case, tension.

I'm impressed with how dedicated Max is at executing a joke. Who else can actually make me tense, and laugh hysterically in the same short?

Anyway, great stuff.

The best thing I've ever seen

For reals.

I like to draw and complain about stuff.
