The Orange Box ... always ^^

Everything about HL2E2 is just so perfect in every way.
Portal is a super cool sidekick
Team Fortress 2 is a long awaited game.

But CoH4 is REALLY close, but the fact that the story is just so simple makes it lack behind.

Bioshock is just like HL2E2 (nearly), but the fact that it is so short (no additional add-ons), makes it lose.

That's my 2 cent ^^

The thing with The Orange Box is that it's basically two mini-games and an online mode that doesn't work very well. Half-Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1 aren't new, just thrown in to complete the package (which makes for a great deal, but still). So the new stuff is just HL2: Episode 2 which is pretty short and Portal, which is pretty short. Team Fortress is decent and it looks great, but it has a lot of issues. Like KwikToon says below, The Orange Box is mostly a game for the Half-Life fan-base.

Orange box is just a fan-base game.

Ratchet and Clank. And I'm only barely a Sony fan.

Mass Effect, while a great BladeRunner / StarTrek hybrid of a game, has simply too many frustrating pieces in it that make it unenjoyable. FAR too much text, a crummy map system, and having to pause every 4 seconds in a battle to switch weapons, change abilities, etc.

Mario Galaxy is good, but it seems to just be yet another updated version of Mario 64. Not that it's a bad thing but for claiming to be all about innovation, Nintendo doesnt seem to want to change the Mario formula much. And it takes WAY TOO LONG to make those games anyway.

Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter were some of the best adventure shooters ever conceived and made. It's like being inside a campy scifi cartoon, except it doesn't suck. Jak is gone, but Ratchet is still here, and the developers are still making it gold.
One can only hope and pray they dont sell it to Vivendi like they did with Spyro, and Vivendi gets to turn it into a steaming pile of shit like everything else they've touched.

Mass Effect's text is almost completely complimented with voice-over work. And even then, you don't have to dig deep and ask a lot of questions.

Also, I'd just like to note that Jak & Daxter is still alive and it's going to be getting a sequel soon.

I do not agree.

Portal is a short game, yes, if you only go for "Main story", there are a nice bunch of extra missions and challenges.

And I would never call Episode 2 a mini-game. While it isn't the longest game out there, it's differently the best thought out FPS adventure ever. Every location tells a new story about people/creatures you never knew.

Team Fortress 2 is my favorite multiplayer game together with CoD4.
I love the blend of tactics, teamplaying and brute skills combined (when it comes to multiplayer).
And the dialogue is geniously written ^^

Super Mario Galaxy is my vote (for now). It's amazing that Nintendo creates planets that you can walk around and also made "Gravity changers" and an awesome storyline!

Mass Effect I haven't tried, yet, but it does look pretty cool! My friends have been telling me it's one of the best games out there!

R&C, well it did get the award for best animation last year, might as well try it when I get the chance.

COD4, just like the other COD's, same gameplay over and over again. But still worth playing!

Are you being sarcastic about Galaxy's storyline?

I dunno, I liked Halo 3.

Fire Emblem was cool too

I too never fell onto the DDR/GuitarHero/RockBand bandwagon (heh, RockBandwagon). Not my kind of games, and I'm astonished at their popularity.

Me too. I don't get how music rhythm games contend for many as game of the year. They just make listening to songs harder and more expensive.

Mario is the winner for me. The game was just so much fun, I wanted to play through it slowly, but I just had to see what was waiting for me next. That really rarely happens to me in gaming now.

motorstorm

also heavenly sword was short BUT GREAT

I should slap you in the mouth.
