Holy crap, the score undermines this thing

This was significantly funnier than I was expecting it to be, and much longer too. I'm assuming it's been getting dinged for the artwork, but I thought it fit in a very funny way. Trick Shark himself looked awesome, too. I was going to say the simplistic and rough artwork looked a lot like Banana Phone, but I just realized why. The post-credits stuff was very funny too. Very nice job. I'll be voting on this for Monthlies.

Yep

Guilty.
Rtil, your stuff rules. Great, real, animation and stuff. I liked the angular screens. Good stuff.

Okay, the ending was great

The sound quality was not surprisingly poor (mics at theatres usually are) but it was otherwise entertaining. It was a Smooth concept, with a funny dad character. Had the sound quality been better, I would have added a star. The last yelp was joyous. Good stuff.

Yeah, I looked for quality wav files online forever but, as expected, couldn't find any. Oh well. Thnx though. Glad you liked it.

Holy shit

Without a doubt the nicest animation I've seen in ages. The effects were insane, too. It never really looked like shortcuts were being taken. On top of that, it was surprisingly longer than I had hoped for. The story was great and did a good job linking itself to all the other episodes, while still broadening the scope of this little world. As if Phillips hadn't already solidified his title as the best author on Newgrounds, he pulled no punches to make the best short this site has ever harbored. It will only be succeeded by Phillips' next endeavor.

A poor contender to the AWESOME collections

This cartoon clearly borrowed its concept from Egoraptor's AWESOME stuff, and didn't live up to it in the process. None of the skits are particularly funny; they mostly annoyed to the point of wanting to exit out. Thankfully they were short. Overall, the comedy was weak and the animation didn't fill in the gap. The borrowed premise didn't get it any extra points either. The voice acting was annoying in most cases, as intended, but still very nice quality. As a flash cartoon, this fails to live up to its peers.

You get a lot done

You make me jealous with how fast and often you put cartoons out. I enjoyed this, but the bleeps were kind of annoying. I think we can take some foul language if we can take a pair of tits atop some legs.

Your artwork is getting nicer and nicer. I don't understand how you improved so rapidly. Whatever. WHATEVER, SWAIN!

The-Swain responds:

OMG an 8??? Thats it I'm taking Ingus out of the Ghostmas Special!!1

I'm actually surprised this cartoon has done so well, I figured it deserved far worse :D With a score like it has, it might even place weekly. OH GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE

Holy shit

How is it that I fell as though everything both made sense and anti-sense at the same time? The non sequitur humor still tied together somehow. My mind was blown, but not for long enough. This should have been like 25 minutes long.

Two cameos in one Halloween

And I haven't even done anything this year! Anyway, good stuff. I was surprised by the rather extensive cameo by Blockhead, and certainly surprised to see (older model) Ingus in there too. I'm flattered, but you know, this sort of thing is bad for my unjustly large ego. Overall very funny stuff. The floating eyes bit was probably my favorite part in the cartoon. The voice acting was great and the villain sounds a lot like Professor Ratigan. Overall, great job.

squeakytoad responds:

Ah, yeah. I was informed that was an older model. I watched the series last year (loved it, btw, make more), and when I got around to this thing, I had forgotten that Ingus had changed appearance, using episode one (the quickest one I could get- the scene was last minute) for reference.

With these characters, I generally love to throw in cameos. It keeps drawing background characters from being a boring ordinary task.
As for the Blockhead character, I plan to, from now on, try to get an animator I really like the work of, like Swain, to play a cameo part.
It's fun for me to animate, and while it may alienate the unfamiliar audience for just a few seconds, the familiarity that fans of those series thrills them enough to make it worth it.

Thanks, man! Really glad you liked it.

Great stuff

Lemon Demon's song was great, but unlike many other videos from his songs, this did it justice. Everything was well-fit and well animated. The only gripe (which is hardly even one) is that the animation by the end was better than the beginning, so upon a second viewing, it starts out looking worse than you remember. Otherwise, great stuff. Very enjoyable, and one of Halloween '07's best cartoons yet.

TmsT responds:

3D spinarounds never look as good as normal front-on animation. :3 I'm only human!

Well animated but uninspired

Everything looking nice is always a great plus in flash cartoons, but without something worthwhile behind it, a pretty face doesn't mean much. I'd like to say it's just a run-of-the-mill violent Halloween short, but run-of-the-mill has become something with a twist or an unexpected villain. This didn't even deliver that. We've began to expect the twist -- like that this guy wasn't evil or the kid kills the guy -- but instead, we see something below our expectations. Overall, it hurts the cartoon as a whole.

SlanSai responds:

First of all, thanks for the review, constructive critisism is always appreciated.

-spoiler-

Though, the red tall guy wasnt really supposed to be evil. He just tries to help out the poor monsterling, its not his fault that everything went terribly wrong... so well.. I guess my story telling skills needs a bit of work then :)

I like to draw and complain about stuff.
