More of Phillips' very original sense of humor

Man. I love this man. Nobody thinks like this. Nobody sits down and writes this sort of thing out. Nobody jots down the note, "patters with dangling Santa feet on ornament." People are not like Mr. Phillips. His sense of humor is incredibly different from everyone else's.

It goes without saying that the art and animation here is great. I really liked the light coming through the hair and eyebrows. This whole thing is just very well put together. In a strange (almost sacrilegious) way, this makes me yearn for a full-fledged Adam Phillips cartoon taking place outside the Bitey world and in the shoes of something or someone capable of acting out this type of humor.

We love Mr. Phillips. May his talents feed us for ages to come.

wow thanks!
As I'm working on the Brackenwood feature film right now, there probably won't be another 8-10min Brackenwood Flash epic for a long time. My future NG submissions will return to the storytelling style of hitchHiker and nightShift.
Glad you liked it and thanks for the tenner :)

Enchanting

I don't know where to start. Most things made by most people take a funny idea and overplay it, or attempt excessively crude humor in place of something better. Similarly, flaws and limited animation ability are hidden by overblown movements and action that distracts, rather than supports.

This falls into neither of those buckets. On the first, it seems to go the opposite way entirely; taking a very plain and humorless situation like playing video games and getting pancakes, and making it entertaining. The amount at which it is not active makes it enjoyable.

On the art and animation side, everything is gentle. Things aren't hidden with fast movements and whips. There's obviously more tweening than actual frame animation, but I wouldn't hold that against someone using it when it doesn't make sense not to. The style and colors work great with the dialogue and voice-acting.

My only problem with the entire short was the actual "climax" of it. Everything was enjoyable nothingness -- which I would love to see more of -- but then it constructed itself to peek at the cuss-off, which I feel like I've seen before, and never really enjoyed all that much. It seemed to brush against why I liked everything before it so much. It wasn't done badly, but it didn't feel like a fitting conclusion.

Overall, it was pretty awesome. Your style and temperament is very welcome. People who make stuff like this when they know they could make stick fights or offensive blue-collar jokes and get just as much attention for half the work deserve high fives.

You devil, you

It feels good to be getting so much Gilardi all over the portal these days. The art is a great combination of the stuff we've all come to know mixed with that 50s-style simple shape artwork from some sweet old cartoons.

The thing I love about these cartoons is that they're lengthy. They're not just short little bursts of stupid humor that there's so much of; they're full-on cartoons.

Education?!

I was expecting something silly. Instead I got a pretty well-animated informational video. It seems to be targeted to people younger than me, but it is good nonetheless.

Cavebird responds:

no, not silly, thanks for writing

Abridged!

Now I don't have to waste my time playing through Gears 2.

Awesome

A good balance of everything. Never too much or not enough of something. Nice artwork. Funny stuff.

Worth the explosions

Another nicely directed segment to the Fallen Angel episode. The nuclear blasts were pretty incredible, though probably too technically intense for most people to handle.
I stated this in the other two reviews and I'll state it again: the character design and artwork doesn't hold up to the environment you created for them.
Overall, impressive work. I look forward to more of this stuff.

Better than part 1

A big step up from the first part of the episode. The direction feels very professional, and there are a lot of nice little details. The people don't look at good as they should; they're very different and unfitting compared to the environment. Again, great use of CG. I hope part 3 unveils a larger portion of the story than what's been made revealed in parts 1 and 2.

It's about time

It's been forever since the teaser, and most people probably either assumed it wasn't going to happen or forgot about it entirely. Then this shows up.

For the most part, everything looks nice. The environments are great and the CG is well-used. You know very well how to make a good looking camera shot. But I was disappointed by how stale they all were, in terms of what was going on. It felt a little like a comic book page spruced up with some movement, rather than a cartoon.

Not a lot happened, but this is obviously just part one of the first episode, so that's no surprise. I look forward to seeing more of this series, and I hope the story is on par with the presentation.

Another great Madness tribute

I like the look of this Madness tribute. It looks a lot like Stamper's interpretation, but that's okay. I'm glad to see ones that aren't just bad ripoffs of Krinkels' original stuff. The psychic killing was cool looking. I can't wait for the next part.

I like to draw and complain about stuff.
