A new kind of flash cartoon

It's uncommon to see a flash cartoon with a serialized storyline, an appropriate balance of action and oddball humor, bound in a simple yet attractive, consistent art style. I would have gone with a 9/10, but I appreciate the achievement here. It makes me happy to see things like this with an overall glossing of quality in its various production realms.

Thank you very much! :D

My favorite Pico Day submission

Incredible. Absolutely astounding. I loved this cartoon so much. It's so gay.

LazyMuffin responds:

I'm GLAD!
Thanks.

More of Phillips' very original sense of humor

Man. I love this man. Nobody thinks like this. Nobody sits down and writes this sort of thing out. Nobody jots down the note, "patters with dangling Santa feet on ornament." People are not like Mr. Phillips. His sense of humor is incredibly different from everyone else's.

It goes without saying that the art and animation here is great. I really liked the light coming through the hair and eyebrows. This whole thing is just very well put together. In a strange (almost sacrilegious) way, this makes me yearn for a full-fledged Adam Phillips cartoon taking place outside the Bitey world and in the shoes of something or someone capable of acting out this type of humor.

We love Mr. Phillips. May his talents feed us for ages to come.

chluaid responds:

wow thanks!
As I'm working on the Brackenwood feature film right now, there probably won't be another 8-10min Brackenwood Flash epic for a long time. My future NG submissions will return to the storytelling style of hitchHiker and nightShift.
Glad you liked it and thanks for the tenner :)

Education?!

I was expecting something silly. Instead I got a pretty well-animated informational video. It seems to be targeted to people younger than me, but it is good nonetheless.

Cavebird responds:

no, not silly, thanks for writing

What?

There was no real joke, no events, no nothing. There wasn't even animation really. Twenty seconds of a guy wiggling in place as he held a list, if that counts as animation. I was really disappointed with this submission. There was nothing to appreciate, with the exception of nice audio quality. The visuals weren't ugly, but they were so uneventful and lacking detail that it didn't seem to matter. I wouldn't suggest that this cartoon reflected the abilities of this author, because I know that they are capable of much more than what was presented here.

I hope not to see more of this and instead see harder work from this author, and from Madness Day 2008.

Shadowii2 responds:

I didn't mention this anywhere, but I did it for beating up boredom, nothing else.

ps.
the animation is really cheap ass, only few layers with tweening, I didn't intend to put much effort in to it, nor am I trying to get attention with it.

Hopefully the next ACTUAL project will please you more.

A decent bit

The animation was pretty good and thankfully unique, as opposed to just copying Krinkels' graphics. The joke was funny enough, but the execution could have been better. The post-credits joke was funny, but I'm sure will be lost to people who haven't seen the reference first.

Overall, a strong enough submission.

Wonchop responds:

Yeah it was more for Tom than it was for like...normal people.

Great song, appropriate artwork

I liked the shanty feel to the song and, even though it re-used a few of the same jokes in itself, it had very catchy lyrics. The visuals could have been more sophisticated, but they fit nonetheless, and still provided a means to get the jokes across well enough.

Oney responds:

thanks brow! Appreciate it

Amazing

Very funny stuff. I love the Yotam style a lot. I look forward to more RWD flash in the future.

LazyMuffin responds:

Sweet, glad you liked it.

Another fantastic installment

The artwork is always very smooth and clean in your cartoons, which makes them enjoyable to watch even during the dull points in the comedy. In this one, however, it seemed pretty solid all the way through, with no breaks in laughter and whatnot. The ending portraits are always pretty awesome. I want one as my desktop.

Strap-on lizard tails.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

thanks!

Great stuff!

MGS cartoons usually have really irritating, stupid jokes. This luckily didn't fall into that group. The double parody was done perfectly, and the art was great (except the traced Mk. II). I have those Life Alert commercials, and you captured the oddities of it pretty well. Good job.

mrnihil responds:

drawing and animating the mkII was outside of the cartoon's budget.

I like to draw and complain about stuff.
