For a while now, Newgrounds has been my go-to primarily for the games. The movies have been flocking to Youtube, leaving this place a little light on good stuff. So imagine my surprise when I see this -- one of the best cartoons on Newgrounds in a very long time. I didn't dislike any part of this. Fantastic stuff.

MiddleFingerRings responds:

Newgrounds has always been my home, there's something about it that Youtube just doesn't have. Thanks for enjoying my rubbish!

That was wonderful. I really don't like writing reviews, but I feel the need to mark this territory. Good stuff.

LazyMuffin responds:

Thanks master kupa!

Nothing terribly impressive or entertaining here. I really don't intend to sound mean or disrespectful here in saying that. Demo reels are supposed to be fun and full of the best work one has to show. This came off more as, "Here's some things I made. Oh, and here's some loud music on top of it." The work wasn't terrible, but I wasn't blown away by any of it. If I watched a full cartoon animated with these talents, I'm sure I'd really enjoy it. But seeing the raw animation in this format was more boring than anything.

ToonCastleTV responds:

I agree dude, like I said this was a college assignment and I had to kinda throw in a sample of everything for a deadline. My demo reel this year should actually be entertaining.

LazyMuffin's art and animation atyle are a highlight of my Newgrounds visits. It's truly synonymous with the site for me, alongside Bitey and Madness. His humor keeps up, too. It's always funny and never too much or too overdone. He's just great.

I love him.

LazyMuffin responds:

That's very nice. Thanks you!

It's still funny

I can't believe it's been this long, but here we are. The Steven Seagal cartoons were among my favorites when they had come out, and they probably still hold up pretty well today, but seeing this one remade (with a few new jokes) was awesome.

The before-and-after comparisons were an interesting reminder how much flash has evolved, and the deleted scenes were hilariously dry. The storyboards were nice and silly too.

I hope this means more stuff to come. I've had you on my favorites list for years, but it's been forever since I've seen anything new. And those Comedy Central ones were a bitch to find.

ken9000 responds:

Thanks for hanging in there all these years. I've been meaning to do new cartoons for a long time, but I've been way too busy. I finally got a good chunk of free time, so I'm committing myself to make new stuff for Newgrounds.

Simple concept, well executed

If someone were to explain to me what this cartoon was about, I probably wouldn't have watched it. It doesn't sound interesting to watch from a conceptual standpoint. Yet, as the cartoon went on, I found myself quite intrigued by it. It didn't go anywhere extreme or make a solid conclusion, which was the best direction to go. It just sort of lets itself rustle your feathers.

My only criticisms of this cartoon can be leveled at the art. The tweened fluidity and subtle expression of the protagonist's eyes was nice, but the style wasn't working for me. the chat screen -- the focal point of the cartoon -- looked serviceable and nothing more. But these are small complaints. Overall, you've made a genuinely interesting cartoon here.

Jimtopia responds:

Thanks a bunch for the review! Yeah, I figured when I decided to go with this idea that a definitive ending would be the wrong direction to go. It's supposed to just get under your skin and bother you just a little bit, not tell a massive story.

As for the art, I'm glad you thought I tweened "fluidly." I figure if I'm gonna be lazy and tween everything I might as well try and make it look kind of nice. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not the best artist, but I'm glad you could look past it and give me an honest review.

Easily the best looking thing on this site

There's no argument that this cartoon is, and will remain, the most impressive piece of animation on this site until the next Brackenwood is released. But I am still compelled to drool over the amazing accomplishments made not just for a flash animation, but animation in general.
The evolution of storytelling from the other entries in the series is very interesting, and looks to amaze. I'm glad to hear that the wait will not be nearly as long. And I am thoroughly pleased to hear progressive news on the feature film, as it would be very exciting to see.
This cartoon is, in all aspects, gorgeous.

chluaid responds:

Thanks for the review man! I'll keep NG updated with news on the sequel to this and the feature film progress :)

Homage, parody, or both?

A perfect play on every cheesy cliche, flaw, and quirk of anime. Simply one of the funniest things I've seen on Newgrounds in a long time. Both to its benefit and its detriment, the dialogue is incredibly quotable. I can't wait for episode three.

Fantastic job, fellows.

Egoraptor responds:

Thanks man :)

What's the point?

The visuals were lumpy and very poorly proportioned, the presentation was weak, and the joke was... I don't know, because I didn't even know when it happened. I honestly couldn't tell you what the point of this thing was. Nothing happened. This is the stuff people don't make cartoons about because it's boring.

There is nothing redeeming or recommendable about this cartoon. I wish I could say something nicer, but I can't.

ElVago responds:

Do you forgive me?

I thoroughly enjoy murder

I am a fan of these brief skits. I hope more are in the works.

Oney responds:

thanks kupa man, im gonna try and release longer and better animated stuff actually, i made this in a day! thanks for watching!

I like to draw and complain about stuff.
